Day 4 -22/06/23

 Woke up this morning to the lovely sound of the American girls in our flat chatting away. Tried for ages to drown them out but unfortunately their voices were too piercing. After suffering through this, we decided to leave and start sightseeing. We began at the Holocaust memorial and museum, which was incredibly moving, especially the parts that had letters from Holocaust victims before being sent to the camps.

It was a boiling hot day, and next we decided to go to the Brandenburg Gate. I have to say, I was incredibly disappointed, it wasn’t big at all! Not sure why it’s so famous, there’s about 5 arches in London the same size or bigger, like Admiralty Arch. Anyway, the view wasn’t too good, as at the moment in Berlin there’s a ‘special olympics’ going on and I think the down-syndrome cycling race was on right next to the arch so there were lots of banners around. Decided to sit on a nearby bench and drank an incredibly overpriced bottle of Fanta (€4!!!). Then we went to go and meet Jo and Polly, who were sitting in a cafe by the Reichstag building.

After meeting up, we decided to go for a drink. Polly found this rooftop bar online, and after getting incredibly lost for about an hour we finally arrived. The view was fantastic - we could see over the whole of Berlin. Afterwards, I went and spent more unnecessary money on black trousers in preparation for our night of clubbing.

After a quick pitstop back home we made our way over to Jo and Polly’s hotel to get ready for our night out. We nearly didn’t go, as there was crazy thunder and lightning and it was raining heavily. We decided to brave it however, which ended up being a waste of time as the bouncer took one look at me and turned me away (but let the girls in?). The rest of us, disappointed, went to a nearby club, which was basically just filled with people who were turned away from the other one. It wasn’t great, so we decided to head back and have a sleep.
